SATURDAY OPAQUE WORKSHOP

£10 with own materials. Please pre-book

Coloured and graphite pencils (except for watercolour pencils), pastels and pastel pencils and gouache paints are always opaque.

TESTING YOUR MATERIALS FOR OPACITY: apply a small sample of the colour to a piece of newsprint. If it completely obscures the print, it is opaque.

SUMMER EXHIBITION 13-16 AUGUST 2025

Councillor Caroline Rackham opened our very successful annual exhibition at the Eling Tide Mill Visitors' Centre. (Photo taken from Tina's video)

Over 100 entries were exhibited. Sales were excellent with eighteen paintings sold in addition to smaller items. Members and visitors were able to vote for their favourite paintings. All the votes are counted and out of all the many and varied votes, three artists receive awards.

Kim Elaine - Forest Foal (Gold Award)
Karen Frampton - Donkeys by the Old Post Office (Silver Award)
Ali McShea - Turmoil and also - Smugglers' Moon (Reg Whiting Founder Member Award)

Danny Byrne was the political cartoonist for the Mirror group of newspapers. He now paints a huge range of subjects and takes commissions for portraits. However, at our September meeting, he will show us what makes a good cartoon.

Please bring some drawing materials with you. The evening ends at 9.30pm
